The GGSC operates under the 501(c)(3) status of the University of California, Berkeley, and the governance of the UC Regents. The university’s federal tax ID number is 94-6002123. Upon completing your donation, you'll receive a receipt that can be used for tax purposes.

No. While we are based at the university and our staff are university employees, our funding comes from individual donations, grants from private foundations, and earned income from our events and programs. The university does provide human resources, accounts payable, and other administrative support for the Center, as well as the immeasurable benefit of being part of the world’s leading public research university. Our current collection of donor benefits offers opportunities to learn about the impact of your contributions to the GGSC. You'll be invited to learn more about new programs, special initiatives, and research projects related to well-being, social-emotional learning, relationships and communication, and bridging differences.

Yes, we send a series of emails leading up to the December giving season each year, and sometimes we have special campaigns at other times of the year. Eligibility for donor benefits is based on calendar year giving, so if you make a gift between January-December of 2023, you'll be eligible for member benefits (at your giving level) through December 2024.
