Science of Happiness Video Series Wins SPJ NorCal Journalism Award

The Greater Good Science Center is thrilled to announce that our Science of Happiness video series won a 2020 Excellence in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, Northern California chapter. The series was produced by GGSC executive producer Jane Bahk, with claymation by artist Annie Wong.
The Society of Professional Journalists is a national journalism organization whose mission is to promote the free practice of journalism, high standards of ethical behavior, and diversity and excellence in journalism. The SPJ NorCal Excellence in Journalism Awards recognize and celebrate extraordinary contributions in news.
The Science of Happiness video series received an award for sharing science-based practices for happiness, kindness, and connection. The series includes insights from researchers, as well as individuals (both adults and children) trying out practices and sharing their stories, some of which come from the Science of Happiness podcast. Topics range from self-compassion and savoring to gratitude and values, including:
- A Thank-You to Librarians Who Make Everyone Feel Welcome
- Being Kinder to Yourself
- Connecting With What Matters
- How to Clear Your Head
