What if love is the most powerful force to heal a fractured world—and bring more meaning to our lives?

Join us at the Greater Good Love Summit for a day of science, stories, and inspiration. At a time when love seems like it’s in short supply, you’ll come away with concrete ideas for spreading love in your community—and cultivating it in yourself and others.

Leading scientific experts will reveal the origins and transformative power of love; award-winning storytellers will share moving narratives of love in action; and participants will experience the nurturing and energizing force of this timeless virtue through performances and creative activities.

 Our exciting lineup of speakers will include:

  • Celebrated author Anne Lamott, author of Somehow: Thoughts on Love
  • Positive psychology pioneer Barbara Fredrickson, Ph.D., author of Love 2.0
  • Citizen University CEO Eric Liu, author of Become America: Civic Sermons on Love, Responsibility, and Democracy
  • W. Kamau Bell, the stand-up comedian, director, and producer whose work includes the five-time Emmy Award-winning CNN docuseries United Shades of America and the HBO documentary 1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed

  • A live recording of the GGSC’s Science of Happiness podcast, with host Dacher Keltner, Ph.D., the GGSC’s faculty director and author of Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life
  • And many more to come!

They will deliver mind-opening talks, interactive practices, and uplifting performances. You’ll gain new insights into the human capacity for love and why we need to put it at the center of public life.

The day will cover:

  • What science actually tells us about love—and why it matters now more than ever;
  • The biological and evolutionary basis of extreme acts of altruistic love;
  • How love can strengthen our social fabric, bridge divides, and contribute to a good and meaningful life;
  • Ways to recognize and act on our innate capacity for love, and encourage it in the next generation.

Be part of a cultural shift toward greater empathy and connection! This event may be especially valuable for educators, health professionals, faith and community leaders—anyone in a position not only to nurture love in themselves but also to promote it in others.

This event is part of Greater Good Science Center's Spreading Love Through the Media initiative, funded by the John Templeton Foundation, which seeks to expand the concept of love beyond romantic relationships, emphasizing its role in fostering compassion, altruism, and social connection.
